Library Journal Review

Most diet books presuppose the reader's wish to be thinner and healthier. This title goes further in promising that beauty-face, hair, skin-can be improved by foods that we not only eat, but that we can apply topically to improve our looks. Wolfer, who is high-profile thanks to her website -thebeautybean.com and appearances on TV's Access Hollywood and in People StyleWatch magazine, presents recipes for skin creams, hair conditioners, and other beauty aids as well as for tasty meals that purport to nourish from the inside. Certainly her facial masks and dry skin creams are much less expensive than commercial products and more fun as well. There is something very satisfying about whipping up a face mask in your own kitchen and it is likely that it will work just as well as a store-bought treatment. The food recipes are varied and inventive and certainly better for you than most of the "diet" items from the supermarkets. They feature lots of fresh fruits and nuts, whole grains, yogurt, vegetables, and fish. -VERDICT Fun to read, this book will certainly appeal to younger and even some of the more adventurous older women. Lavishly illustrated, this is a title that most libraries will want to consider.-Susan B. Hagloch, formerly with -Tuscarawas Cty. P.L., New Philadelphia, OH (c) Copyright 2014.
