Sweet treats that combine two or more classic desserts from the blogger who makes "even novice bakers feel like pros" (POPSUGAR)
Everyone loves cake with ice cream. The combination of textures and flavors, even temperature, adds up to much more than the sum of its parts. In her new book, blogger Hayley Parker takes this concept to new levels. Using cake and brownie mixes, ready-made doughs and crusts, and other make-it-simple shortcuts, Parker comes up with the most deviously delicious desserts imaginable, including: Strawberry Shortcake Bars Creme Brûlée Pie Banana Split Cupcakes Red Velvet Cake Shakes
Call them mash-ups or mix-ins, hybrid desserts or sugar hacks, these desserts go above and beyond. Out of the Box, indeed!

Booklist Review
Parker (Out of the Box Desserts, 2016) makes unique desserts by fusing different recipes into a single concoction. The book is chock-full of fun recipes like Fruity Cereal No-Bake Cheesecake, Peanut Butter Crunch Cupcakes, and Birthday Cake Gooey Bars. The desserts are easy to make, the ingredients are affordable, and the beautiful color photographs that accompany each recipe are sure to tempt both novice and advanced bakers. Many of the recipes can be made quickly through the use of time-saving ingredients, such as boxed cake and brownie mixes and refrigerated cookie dough. The book includes a handy chart with metric conversions and charts for halving and doubling recipes. Because the recipes are easy to make, the desserts in the book are perfect for creating with family and friends. Even kids would love using this cookbook. Two in One Desserts is filled with recipes for classic desserts, with a twist; this book is highly recommended for novice bakers and for those who enjoy experimenting in the kitchen with fun, creative baking.--Skir, Holly Copyright 2017 Booklist
Library Journal Review
Self-taught cook Parker (Out of the Box Desserts) gleefully disregards traditional dessert categories in this inventive collection of sweet mash-ups. Included are 100 recipes such as fruity cereal no-bake cheesecake, French silk pie brownies, cannoli cupcakes, and peanut butter and jelly tiramisu that rely heavily on boxed baking mixes, breakfast cereals, and other packaged foods. Like Jackie Alpers's Sprinkles! and Jessie Oleson's CakeSpy Presents Sweet Treats for a Sugar-Filled Life, this title can seem a little silly, but it's a lot of fun. VERDICT Parker's second baking book will interest many readers, especially those with children. From-scratch formalists may prefer Irvin Lin's Marbled, Swirled, and Layered, which has similarly creative recipes and more polished photography. © Copyright 2017.
