With Emily Urquhart, folklorist, journalist and chronic podcast-listener. Our newest club is like a book club, but for podcasts! Anyone can join - we welcome new listeners and die-hard podcast enthusiasts to this informal discussion group. Every month the Podcast Club will meet and chat about the selected podcast(s).
Our first
meeting is a sampler of three great shows to get us started and to introduce
(and hook!) folks who are new to podcast listening.
Love + Radio: The Living Room (25 minutes)

What is a Podcast?
Podcasts are on-demand radio shows and range from true crime reporting and advice
columns, to interviews and in-depth documentary style series. There are shows
catering to every interest from popular to niche. For this group, we’ll stick
with general interest podcasts although group member are encouraged to suggest
shows and episodes that appeal to them.
How
do I listen?
Podcasts are free and you can stream them or download them onto your computer,
tablet or phone. Android and iOS systems will often come with a podcatcher
pre-installed. You can also download a podcatcher app (some are free, some cost
a few dollars) to help organize and find your favourite shows. Sound confusing?
Don’t panic! We’ll help you figure out what works best for you. You can start
by listening straight from the podcast’s web site using the links provided. #TryPod
