Upcoming Programs

For the Records – A New Musical About Adoption, Identity and Truth with Rich Uhrlaub

8:00 - 9:00 PM ET | Monday, April 22

An unexpected pregnancy thrusts teen lovers into the stark arena of adult realities in the fall of 1967. An infertile married couple longs to become parents via a system rooted in secrecy and shame. A beloved baby must grow up severed from roots and forced to navigate seemingly insurmountable obstacles in attempts to discover their full identity as an adult. Emotions run high, but the potential human stakes are even higher. FOR THE RECORD(S) is based on the little-known true stories lived by millions of adoptees and their families by birth and adoption in the last half of the 20th Century - a time dubbed "the Baby Scoop Era."

From the Outside In: A Journalist’s Perspective with Amy Dockser Marcus

8:00 - 9:00 PM ET | Monday, May 6

As a journalist at the Wall Street Journal who writes frequently about how reproductive technologies such as IVF are changing the way people build their families, Amy will talk about how these topics look from her vantage point. She will discuss what she has learned about families formed in alternative ways, what trends she sees, and what things the general public might be surprised by or not aware of in this realm. Amy will take questions in the Q&A portion of the event, and her professional boundaries as a journalist will be respected.

On the Blog

The task of locating family members can seem daunting. Still, through collaborative efforts and meticulous research, the goal is to provide accurate and concise information to those searching for their roots.

Abby joined Adoption Network Cleveland as the Family Support Coordinator in January 2024. In this role, she is responsible for providing responsive support and opportunities for parents, caregivers, and youth in adoptive, foster, and kinship families.

Join us in celebrating the invaluable contributions of Black authors, creators, and educators this February—and all year long. In honor of Black History Month, we are highlighting profound works covering adoption, foster care, and kinship care by Black researchers and storytellers. If any of these books spark your interest, consider purchasing from a Black-owned bookstore.
