Note Laura Mae Daigle was born May 3, 1927 in Madawaska, Maine, the daughter of Oscar and Delphine Robichaud Daigle. She married Edwin R. Corriveau (1924-2009) on August 3, 1949.
St. Louis Church, Fort Kent, Maine's first Catholic church, was built in 1860. On October 1, 1875, the town's St. Louis Parish received its first resident pastor. A larger church was built in 1882, but destroyed by a fire on March 30, 1907. A chapel was built in its place in 1907, while the present structure was built between 1909 and 1911.
In 1924, Alfred D. Soucy (1897-1974) established A.D. Soucy Co., a grocery/farm feed/hardware store on East Main St. in Fort Kent, Maine. In 1948 the store burned down; Soucy re-established the farm feed and hardware store on Market Street. He opened Soucy's Economat, a grocery store, on the location of the original store in 1964. The store operated for almost three decades, changing its name to Soucys' Fort Kent, before becoming a Shop 'N Save in approximately 1988. The store eventually sold to the Paradis family and was relocated. A Rite Aid currently exists on the site of the original store.
